Biography

Bob Nelson is a Writer/Organizer originally born in South Weymouth, MA. In 1994 Bob moved to Mesa, AZ (via Omaha and Western Iowa. :In 1994, Bob co-founded Anthology magazine with writer J.A. Giunta. The magazine would run for ten years and print a wide variety of up and coming poets and writers. Also in 1994, he started the Essenzaslam Poetry Slam, which runs to this day as the longest running poetry slam in the Southwest. In 1999, he founded Spokenworld.com, a pioneer internet readio station focusing on spoken word programming. In 2001, writer Sharon Skinner and he founded Anthology as a 501c3 nonprofit organization.Currently, Bob is the chief of Brick Cave Media, a media microglomerate (his home office).

The Anthology Poetry Slam (2009)

Held at Queen's Pizzeria in Mesa each Thursday, it is the continuation of the Essenzaslam Poetry Slam.

The Valentine's Day Massicree (2006-2009)

Held each year on or around Valentine's day, The Valentine's Day Massicree is a tongue in cheek look at love.

Additional Literary Endeavors

Inkwell Press (1995-2000)

Inkwell Press was founded by Bob originally as the distribution organization for Anthology magazine. Later, the organization branched out into production, producing recordings of spoken word artists and attempted to create a consignment based online store. The market failed to materialize and the organization shuttered in 2000. Bob nelson recorded his debut Album (Bob Nelson) under the label and poet Raven Hail recorded the album Ravensong, and the chapbook of the same name as well through the imprint.

In 1999, Friend of Bob Nelson Jordan Dorf, at the request of additional friend Parrish Douglas, founded the internet audio streaming organization NetRadioLive.com. Joining his friends, Bob founded Spokenworld.com, an internet radio portal that utilized the NetRadioLive network to broadcast internet radio. Bob hosted The SpokenWorld Show on the network weekly until 2001. In early 2002, the frequency of broadcasts diminished, and after a series of format changes, including moving the portal to Bob's own Brick Cave Media networks, the site and broadcasts were placed on hiatus in 2007.

Brick Cave Media

Founded by Bob in 2008, Brick Cave Media is the publishing house for his and select others. Several titles have been released so far, including Bill Campana's The Hit List, Sharon Skinner's In Case You Didn't Hear Me The First Time, and The Klute's My American Journey, My Years in Slam Poetry and Bush's America Collide.
